Use image drop zones
You can use image drop zones to replace a picture in your document with an imported picture and still keep any scaling, transformations, or effects that you applied to the original picture.
-
Select the picture that you want to use as an image drop zone, and then on the Format menu, click Picture.
-
In the navigation pane, click Layout, and then click Advanced.
-
On the Position tab, under Options, select the Placeholder check box.
-
Click OK, and then click OK again.
-
On the Standard toolbar, click Media Browser , and then drag the picture that you want to import over the picture that you want to replace.
The new picture replaces the one that was in the image drop zone. Word preserves the size, rotation, transformation, effects, and other formatting that you used when you created the image drop zone.
Tip: You can also drag a picture directly from the Finder onto an image drop zone. However, you can't use the Insert menu to add a picture to a drop zone.
