Save a form template

Save a form template

Publishing a form template is not the same as saving a form template. When you publish a form template, the Publishing Wizard adds the publish location and processing instructions to the form template so that users can open forms that are based on this form template. When you save a form template, you are saving a copy of the form template, just as you do when you save a file to your computer. You should always use the Publishing Wizard when you want to make your form template available for your users to fill out. This topics explains how to save a form template.

Save a form template

  1. On the File menu, click Save.

  2. If you receive a message about publishing the form template, click OK.

  3. In the Save As dialog box, specify where you want to save the form template.

  4. In the File name box, type a name for the form template.

  5. In the Save as type list, do one of the following:

    • To save the form template as a Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 form template, click InfoPath Form Template, and then click Save.

    • To save the form template as a Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003 form template, click InfoPath 2003 Form Template, and then click Save. If you have added any controls or enabled any features that aren't supported in Office InfoPath 2003, InfoPath displays a message and notifies you that your form template has unsupported controls or features.

      2. Make any necessary changes to your form template.

      3. To verify that your form template is free of any problems, in the Design Checker task pane, click Refresh.
