Share a workbook in Office 365

Suppose that you've just created a workbook that has charts, tables, and views, and you want to share that workbook with others. If you're using Office 365, you can share your workbook in a way that makes it easy for people to access it using lots of different devices. Depending on what your Office 365 subscription includes, you have several options available to you.

  • Save your workbook to OneDrive for Business or a team site If you use a team site, people who have access to that site will have access to your workbook automatically, so you don't have to remember to grant permissions. On the other hand, if you want to control whether people can view or edit your workbook, OneDrive for Business might be your best bet.

  • Share workbooks using Excel Services People who have access to that site will have access to your workbook automatically, so you don't have to remember to grant permissions. You can specify how you want the workbook to be displayed, and whether people can interact with it in a browser window.

  • Transfer a file in a Skype for Business meeting If you're using Skype for Business or Lync, you can share files such as workbooks in meetings.

  • Attach a file to an email in Outlook 2016 for Windows Sending someone a workbook in email can be a quick and easy way to get a file to someone. And, if the workbook has been uploaded to a SharePoint or OneDrive for Business library, you can send a link to the file in your email.
