Need help signing in?
We're sorry you're having trouble signing in to Lync. Here are answers to some common sign-in questions.
How do I sign in to the Lync app?
You need a sign-in address and password from an organization that uses Lync Server, or has a business subscription to Office 365. If you're already using Lync on your desktop, then you have a Lync account.
How do I reset my password?
If you forgot your password, or it doesn't work anymore, contact your workplace technical support—typically the person who set up your Lync account for you. Provide them with these links:
-
Lync Server: Reset a user's password in Active Directory
-
Office 365: Reset a user's password and Reset my password for Office 365 for Business
What's the format of my sign-in address and user name?
Your sign-in address looks like this: user@domain.com.
You may be asked for both a user name and a sign-in address. The user name is what you use to sign in to your organization's network, either user@domain.com or domain\username.
Do I need to enter proxy settings?
If you're behind an authenticated proxy, you'll need to provide proxy authentication information, as follows.
-
From the My info screen, tap More (…), tap Settings, and then tap Proxy setting and enter your proxy settings.
When do I need to manually specify an auto-discovery server?
If you can't sign in, you might need to manually specify the auto-discovery server. For more information contact your technical support team.
