Call detail recording is a feature of Office Communications Server 2007 R2, Monitoring Server that records usage information about instant message conversations and meetings. Some organizations use the usage data obtained from call detail records to calculate their return on investment (ROI).

Before you administer call detail recording, you must first install a Monitoring Server and all its prerequisites, as well as enable call detail recording according to the instructions in the deployment documentation for Monitoring Server.

For details, see the Operations section of the Office Communications Server Technical Library.
