Results of Microsoft Office Diagnostics
This page explains the results of the Microsoft Office Diagnostics that you just ran. You may also see suggestions on how to improve the health of your computer and your installation of the 2007 Microsoft Office system. The contents of this article only apply to the results that are displayed after running Microsoft Office Diagnostics. Diagnostic Results
None of the Microsoft Office Diagnostics found any problems.
Setup Diagnostic — File corruption or altered file
The Setup Diagnostic repaired problems with your installation of Microsoft Office. Your Microsoft Office programs should now function correctly.
If your Microsoft Office programs continue to crash, the source of the problem may be a hardware failure or hardware configuration problem. Review the results of the Disk and Memory Diagnostics to determine if a hardware failure is affecting your installation of the 2007 Office release.
Setup Diagnostic — Missing media
The Setup Diagnostic was not completed because a valid source was not found. Either the local installation source is missing, or the original source that was used to install Microsoft Office is not available to the repair process. You may need to provide the original source to allow this diagnostic to run successfully. Valid sources for the 2007 Office release include the following:

Your 2007 Office release installation CD
-
An installation disk or repair CD provided by the vendor of your computer
-
A connection to a network installation of the 2007 Office release
After you obtain access to a valid source, run Office Diagnostics again.
Disk Diagnostic — Failure of hard disk predicted
The Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) feature of your hard disk has found errors that may indicate that the hard disk is likely to fail. SMART is a feature that some disk drive manufacturers provide to give users advance notice of potential hard disk failure. Instability in your Microsoft Office programs may be the result of these hard disk drive errors.
Note: This result can indicate a severe problem, but some hard disks may not accurately report their results.
We recommend that you do the following:

Back up your important data immediately.

Check the results of other diagnostics, and follow the instructions for resolving any issues that the other diagnostics have reported. After you resolve those issues, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again to see if this Disk Diagnostic issue is resolved.

If you continue to get this result, contact someone, such as the vendor of your computer or hard disk.
Disk Diagnostic — Errors in system event log
The Disk Diagnostic found evidence of hardware errors. Instability in your Microsoft Office programs may be the result of these hardware errors.
This result occurs if one of the following has happened recently:
-
The Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) feature of your hard disk has found errors. SMART is a feature that some disk drive manufacturers provide to give users advance notice of potential hard disk failure.

Microsoft Office Diagnostics has found blocked-out (failed) sectors on your hard disk.
-
Microsoft Office has had trouble accessing files from the hard disk; it needs these files to function properly.
We recommend that you do the following:

Check the results of other diagnostics, and follow the instructions for resolving any issues that the diagnostics have reported. After you resolve those issues, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again to see if this Disk Diagnostic issue is resolved.

If you continue to get this result, contact someone, such as the vendor of your computer or hard disk.
Memory Diagnostic — RAM failure
The Memory Diagnostic found evidence of failure in the random access memory (RAM).
We recommend that you do the following:

Check the results of other diagnostics, and follow the instructions for resolving any issues that the diagnostics have reported. After you resolve those issues, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again to see if this Memory Diagnostic issue is resolved.

If you continue to get this result, run a Microsoft Windows memory diagnostic. For more information, see How do I know if my computer has a memory problem?. Or contact someone, such as the vendor of your computer or RAM.
Memory Diagnostic — User is not an administrator
The Memory Diagnostic was unable to run because you do not have administrative rights on this computer. To successfully run the Memory Diagnostic, someone with administrative rights must log on to this computer and run Microsoft Office Diagnostics.
Update Diagnostic — Installation is out of date
The Update Diagnostic determined that your installation of Microsoft Office does not have the latest service packs installed. Installing service packs improves stability. We recommend that you visit get the latest updates for Office 2007.
Compatibility Diagnostic — Conflicting versions of Outlook found
The Compatibility Diagnostic identified conflicting versions of Microsoft Office Outlook. To remove the version of Outlook from your computer that you do not want, do the following:

Microsoft Windows Vista

Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

Click Uninstall a program.
Note: In Classic view, double-click Programs and Features.

Select the version of Outlook that you do not want, and then click Uninstall.

Microsoft Windows XP
-
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
-
Select the version of Outlook that you do not want, and then click Remove.

Setup Diagnostic — Test canceled
The Setup Diagnostic was canceled before running successfully. If you want to run this test, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.
Note: The Setup Diagnostic can take 15 minutes or longer to run in certain circumstances.
Setup Diagnostic — No problems found
The Setup Diagnostic found no problems with your installation of Microsoft Office.
Disk Diagnostic — No problems found
The Disk Diagnostic found no problems with your hard disk.
Disk Diagnostic — Test canceled
The Disk Diagnostic was canceled before running successfully. If you want to run this test, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.
Disk Diagnostic — Disabled by system administrator
The Disk Diagnostic was disabled by your system administrator. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Setup Diagnostic — Disabled by system administrator
The Setup Diagnostic was disabled by your system administrator. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Memory Diagnostic — No problems found
The Memory Diagnostic found no problems with your system's random access memory (RAM).
Memory Diagnostic — Too many programs in use
The Memory Diagnostic failed to run because too many other programs were consuming the system resources that the diagnostic requires to run successfully. Close all other programs, and then try running Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.
Memory Diagnostic — Disabled on server systems
For security reasons, the Memory Diagnostic is disabled by default from running on server versions of Microsoft Windows. For more information, do the following:

Memory Diagnostic — Test canceled
The Memory Diagnostic was canceled before running successfully. If you want to run this test, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.
Memory Diagnostic — Disabled by system administrator
The Memory Diagnostic was disabled by your system administrator. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Update Diagnostic — No problems found
The Update Diagnostic verified that your system has all the latest Microsoft Office updates installed.
Update Diagnostic — Test canceled
The Update Diagnostic was canceled before running successfully. If you want to run this test, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.
Update Diagnostic — Disabled by system administrator
The Update Diagnostic was disabled by your system administrator. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Update Diagnostic — Unable to access a required file
The Update Diagnostic was unable to run because it requires a file that you have chosen not to download. To give Microsoft Office permission to download this file, do one of the following in one of these 2007 Office release programs:

Access, Excel, PowerPoint, or Word

Click the Office Button , and then click Access Options, Excel Options, PowerPoint Options, or Word Options.

Click Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, and then click Privacy Options.

Select the Download a file periodically that helps determine system problems check box.

Wait about a week to allow the file to be downloaded, and then run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.

Visio, Outlook, Publisher, or InfoPath

On the Tools menu, click Trust Center, and then click Privacy Options.

Update Diagnostic — Microsoft Office was updated
The Update Diagnostic determined that your installation of the 2007 Office release was recently updated successfully with the latest service pack. Your installation of the 2007 Office release is now up to date.
Compatibility Diagnostic — No problems found
The Compatibility Diagnostic found no compatibility problems.
Compatibility Diagnostic — Disabled by system administrator
The Compatibility Diagnostic was disabled by your system administrator. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Check for known solutions — Test canceled
The Check for Solutions Diagnostic was canceled before running successfully. If you want to run this test, run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.
Check for known solutions — Disabled by system administrator
The Check for Solutions Diagnostic was disabled by your system administrator. For more information, contact your system administrator.
Check for known solutions — Unable to connect to server
The Check for Solutions Diagnostic was unable to connect to the required server to find solutions.
Check for known solutions — No issues found
The Check for Solutions Diagnostic successfully scanned your system for problems and checked for known solutions. It found no issues that require your attention.
Update Diagnostic — Beta installation is out of date
The Update Diagnostic determined that your installation of the 2007 Office release (Beta) is not the most current version. We recommend that you get the newer version.
Setup Diagnostic — Blocked by other programs
The Setup Diagnostic was unable to run because the Microsoft Windows Installer was already in use by another program. To successfully run the Setup Diagnostic, try the following:

Close all other programs, and then run Microsoft Office Diagnostics again.

If the test still does not run successfully, restart Windows, and then run Office Diagnostics again.
Setup Diagnostic — User is not an administrator
The Setup Diagnostic was unable to run because you do not have administrative rights on this computer. To successfully run the Setup Diagnostic, someone with administrative rights must log on to this computer and run Office Diagnostics.
