Navigation Options dialog box
You use the Navigation Options dialog box to show or hide the groups of database objects that appear in the Navigation Pane, the replacement for the Database window. You also use the dialog box to create and manage custom categories and groups, to set display options for the Navigation Pane, and to control whether you open the database objects in the pane with single or double mouse clicks.
Grouping Options
Use the items in this section to show or hide the groups in the predefined categories that are provided in Access, and to create and manage custom categories and groups.
Categories
Displays the predefined and custom categories in the currently open database. When you select a category, the groups assigned to it appear in the Groups for section — for example, Groups for "Tables and Views." To show or hide a group, select or clear the check box next to it.
Also, you can reorder any of the custom categories in the Groups for list — that is, move them up or down in the list. To do so, select the custom category in the list and then click the up or down arrow that appears next to it.
In addition, if you select the Tables and Related Views category, you can reorder some of its groups. To do so, click the category and then, in the Groups for pane, click the group that you want to move and use the up or down arrows to reorder the group.
It is important to note that you cannot delete a predefined category or the groups in that category, but you can prevent predefined groups from appearing in the Navigation Pane. To distinguish between predefined and custom categories, pay close attention to the buttons below the Categories section. If the Delete Item and Rename Item buttons are enabled when you select a category, it means you have selected a custom category.
Add Item Click to create a new custom category.
Delete Item Click to delete a custom category. These buttons are enabled only when you select a custom category.
Rename Item Click to rename an item. These buttons are enabled only when you select a custom category.
