Change default times for entered start or finish dates

When you enter a start date without specifying a start time, Project uses the default start time; when you enter a finish date without specifying an end time, Project uses the default end time. For example, if you enter a finish date of 10/20/19 for a task but don't enter an end time, Project uses the default end time.

  1. Choose File > Options > Schedule.

  2. In the Default start time and Default end time boxes, type the times that you want the default work day to start and end.

  3. To use the same settings automatically in all future projects, choose All New Projects in the Calendar options list.

    Notes:

    • Start times and end times that are entered directly in the project calendar, task calendar, or resource calendar override default start and end times that are specified in the Options dialog box. For example, if the project calendar specifies a start time of 8:00 A.M., and you set the default start time to 7:00 A.M., a new task that you enter with a start date of 10/20/19 starts at 8:00 A.M., not at 7:00 A.M. The time from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. is treated as nonworking time. However, the task does have a Start No Earlier Than (SNET) constraint of 10/20/19 7:00 A.M.
