You can play most audio and video files, including mp4, Apple and QuickTime movie files directly from the OneDrive website.
Supported audio and video formats in OneDrive
The following audio/video files can be played directly from your OneDrive in most browsers: 3G2, 3GP, ASF, BMP, M2TS, M4V, MOV, MP3, MP4, MP4V, MTS, TS, WMV
If you have videos in a different format, you can still upload them to OneDrive, but they might not play directly in a browser. To view them on a mobile device, you'll need to download them first.
If a file doesn't play, the format might be one that either OneDrive or your mobile device doesn't support.
Note: DRM-protected video files can't be played on OneDrive.
Workarounds for sharing and viewing videos in iOS 11
With iOS 11, Apple introduced a new video format that is not compatible with many devices and services. We're actively working on updating OneDrive to support playback of these videos.
Workaround for sharing new videos
To return your videos back to the standard format, please do the following:
-
Go to iOS Settings.
-
Tap Camera > Formats > Most Compatible.
Workaround for viewing existing videos
To play videos already in the new format, please do the following:
-
Find the video in OneDrive.
-
Tap the video to open it.
-
Tap the Offline command in the top right (cloud with the download icon).
Once the video is offline you'll be able to play it.
