Define New View dialog box

Define New View dialog box

Use the Define New View dialog box to specify whether you are creating a single-pane view or a combination view. This is the first step toward creating a custom view. A single view is one like the Gantt Chart view or Network Diagram view. A combination view is one like the Task Entry view or Resource Allocation view, in which you can see details in the lower view about a task or resource selected in the upper view.

Depending on which choice you make in this dialog box, different controls appear in the resulting View Definition dialog box. You can:

  • Create a new single view, in which you can specify the screen, table, group, and filter.

  • Create a new combination view, in which you can specify the upper and lower views.

Single view option

Specifies that a new single-pane view is being created. Selecting this option opens the View Definition dialog box with the controls for defining the screen, table, group, and filter, as applicable.

Combination view option

Specifies a new view that is a combination of two existing views. For example, you can display a Gantt Chart in the top pane of the view and a Task Form in the bottom pane. Selecting this option opens the View Definition dialog box with the controls for choosing which views are shown in the top and bottom panes.
