Manage sites from the Site Directory

Manage sites from the Site Directory

The Site Directory provides a central location from which administrators can view, manage, and access all of the Web sites that are associated with a portal site. From the Site Directory, administrators can view both the portal structure and individual sites within the portal, approve or reject new sites, and edit or delete site links.

View the portal structure

  1. On the home page, on the Top Navigation bar, click Sites to open the Site Directory.

  2. In the Site Directory, you can view the portal structure in either of two ways:

    • To view a list of the site collections and the individual sites within them, on the list toolbar, click Site Map.

    • To view all site collections with details, including when they were last updated, on the Quick Launch, click View All Site Content.

View individual sites

  • In the Site Directory, on the list toolbar, click Site Map, and then click the name of the site you want to view.

Edit sites

From the Site Directory, site administrators can change the name of a site, move a site to another location, or change permissions for a site by doing the following:

  1. In the Site Directory, click View All Site Content, and then click the Sites folder.

  2. Rest the pointer on the site that you want to edit, and then click the arrow that appears.

  3. To make changes to the site name or location, click Edit Item. To change permissions, click Manage Permissions.

Approve and reject sites

Sites that are added by administrators are approved by default. Sites that are added by others are set to Pending and must be approved or rejected by a site administrator.

  1. In the Site Directory, click View All Site Content, and then click the Sites folder.

  2. Rest the pointer on the site, and then click the arrow that appears.

  3. In the list, click Approve/reject.

Delete a site from the Site Directory

  1. In the Site Directory, click View All Site Content, and then click the Sites folder.

  2. Rest the pointer on the site that you want to delete from the Site Directory, and then click the arrow that appears.

  3. On the list, click Delete Item. When a confirmation message appears, click OK.
