Configure your account

Do one of the following:

If you are signed in, click Menu > Options.

If you are not signed in, click Options.

Click Accounts > Sign-in name, and then enter your SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) address, which is usually the same as your e-mail address. If you do not know your SIP address, contact your system administrator.

Click Domain\user name, and then type your domain name and user name in the specified format.

Click Password, and then enter the password for your domain account.
-
Optionally, select Remember password if you do not want to type your password every time you sign in to Communicator.

When you are finished, click Done.
In some cases, you will need a proxy server to connect to your IM system. To determine if you need a proxy server and, if so, the name of your proxy server, contact your system administrator.
To specify a proxy server on a smartphone running Windows Mobile 2003 SE

Click Start > Settings.

Click More > Data Connections > Menu > Edit Connections.

Click Proxy Connections > Menu > Add.
-
Enter the following information, and then click Done.

In Description, enter a name for the connection

In Connects from, click the type of network from which you will connect.

In Connects to, click the type of network to which you will connect.
-
In Proxy (name:port), enter the proxy server name and port number in <server name>:<port number> format.

In Type, click the type of proxy connection that you want to create.

In User name, enter your user name for the network to which you will connect.

In Password, enter your password.

To specify a proxy server on a smartphone running Windows Mobile 5.0

Click Start > Settings.

Click Connections > Proxy > Menu > Add.

Enter the following information, and then click Done.

In Description, enter a name for the connection.

In Connects from, click the type of network from which you will connect

In Connects to, click the type of network to which you will connect.

In Proxy (name:port), enter the proxy server name and port number in <server name>:<port number> format.

In Type, click the type of proxy connection that you want to create.
