Add records at West263 to set up your SharePoint Online Public Website

Note: The SharePoint Online Public Website information in this article only applies if your organization purchased Office 365 prior to March 9, 2015.

Before you rename the Office 365 operated by 21Vianet website to use your custom domain name, make sure you've finished designing the website (in Office 365) and that you're ready for everyone to see it. Then when you're ready to use your custom domain for the address, you create (at the DNS host for your domain) a CNAME record to point to your customized website.

Ready to create that CNAME record at WEST263? Follow the steps in this article.

Add the CNAME record to use your custom domain

First, review one of the two following linked articles (depending on the Office 365 subscription you have) for an overview of the process.

• If you're using Office 365 Small Business, get an overview of the process by reading Use a custom domain name to rename your Office 365 public website.

• If you have any other subscription of Office 365, review the instructions in Rename your SharePoint Online Public Website address to use your custom domain.

Then, when you're ready to create the required CNAME record, use the steps in the following table.

Add a CNAME record. On the WEST263 website, open the DNS records page for your domain. To find the DNS records page for your domain, see Find your DNS records at WEST263. Make sure that the fields are set to precisely the following values for the empty record: 主机名 (host name): Use the name of your custom subdomain; for example, www. 解析类型 (type): CNAME记录 对应值 (value): Use name.sharepoint.cn, where name is the first part of your initial partner.onmschina.cn domain; for example, contoso in contoso.partner.onmschina.cn. TTL: 3600 Click 确定添加 (add). In the confirmation dialog box, click OK.

Set up redirection so that people can get to your public website if they don't type www

You probably want people to be able to get to your public website without including www in the address. To do this, use the steps in the following table to set up redirection at WEST263. This maps the root domain name, for example, http://fourthcoffee.com, to the full domain name, for example http://www.fourthcoffee.com.

Notes: 

• If you select cloaked URL forwarding, the browser's address bar will retain the original URL after the URL redirects you to the destination URL. If you select uncloaked URL forwarding, the browser's address bar will display the destination URL after the original URL redirects you to the destination URL.

• After you enter your redirection information on the WEST263 website, WEST263 will review and censor before they activate the redirection.

Task	What you'll see
Get an ICP number. Before setting up redirection, you need to get an Internet Content Provider (ICP) number for your domain.
Select the domain. In your browser, go to the your domains list at WEST263 and sign in. In the right pane, in the 管理 ( management) column for the domain that you want to update, click 管理 ( management).
Set up redirection. Click the URL转发 (URL forwarding) tab. Select 购买转发服务 (charged URL forwarding) or 免费url转发服务 (free URL forwarding). If you want to buy the charged URL forwarding service, follow the prompt to pay for the service. In the empty record, make sure that the fields are set to precisely the following values: 主机名 (host name): Leave the box blank. 转发地址 (destination URL): Type or paste your fully qualified URL; for example, http://www.fourthcoffee.com. 转发标题 (website title for cloaked forwarding): Type a website title if you select cloaked forwarding. 是否隐藏 (cloak or uncloak): Select 隐藏 (cloak) or 不隐藏 (uncloak). Click 增加 (add).

Find your DNS records at WEST263

Use the steps in the following table to get to the right spot in the WEST263 website to edit your DNS records.

Task	What you'll see
Go to the page that has the DNS records for your domain. In your browser, go to the your domains list at WEST263 and sign in. In the right pane, in the 管理 ( management) column for the domain that you want to update, click 管理 ( management). Click the 域名解析 (domain name resolution) tab. The DNS records page for your domain opens.
