Database Drivers dialog box (Default Mapping tab)

Database Drivers dialog box (Default Mapping tab)

Use these options to configure your database drivers for Microsoft Office Visio. When you configure your database drivers, you specify a default Visio database driver, default data type properties, and a default data type for column creation.

You can configure individual database drivers by selecting a driver and clicking Setup. You can also select a default data source for the driver and set additional driver setting preferences.

Note: A Visio database driver is a supplied file that allows Visio to work better with a vendor-supplied database driver or interface, such as an ODBC driver or OLE DB provider. For an association between a Visio database driver and a data source to work properly, the database drivers you select must be designed to work with the ODBC driver or OLE DB provider selected when the data source was defined. For example, you would associate the Visio database driver for Oracle Server with a data source defined for use with an ODBC driver for Oracle databases.

When you reverse engineer a database, the list of available data sources is based on the Visio database driver associations you established in the Setup dialog box for the currently selected Visio database driver. If no associations were established for the driver, then all defined data sources will be listed.
