Edge Server Properties: Edge Interfaces
Use this tab to view or modify the edge interfaces used by the Edge Server.
Important: If you change any port settings on the edge server, you must also update the corresponding settings on your internal servers, as indicated on this page.
Internal Interface
Displays the IP address of the internal interface that internal servers running Office Communications Server that are used to connect to this Edge Server. To change the IP address or the certificate assigned to this interface, click Configure.
IP Address
The IP address used by the internal interface.
Access Edge Server
Displays the settings of the external and internal interfaces of the Access Edge Server. To change any of these settings, including the certificate assigned to the external IP address of the Access Edge Server, click Configure.
Note: If an Access Edge Server role is not configured on the edge server, these settings are not displayed.
Federation external
The IP address and port used by the external interface of the Access Edge Server for federation. The federation port is set to 5061 and cannot be changed.
Remote access external
The IP address and port used by the external interface of the Access Edge Server for remote user access.
Internal IP/port
The IP address and port used for the internal interface of the Access Edge Server for communications with the internal network.
Important: If you change this port setting, make a corresponding change to the appropriate settings in the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 snap-in as follows:
-
If you are using a Director, make a corresponding change on the Director using the Federation tab of Front End Properties of the Standard Edition server or Enterprise pool node.
-
If all servers are connecting directly to the Access Edge Server, make a corresponding change by using the Federation tab of Global Properties of the forest node.
Web Conferencing Edge Server
Displays the settings of the external and internal interfaces of the Web Conferencing Edge Server. To change any of these settings, including the certificate assigned to the external IP address of the Web Conferencing Edge Server, click Configure.
Note: If a Web Edge Conferencing Edge Server role is not configured on this Edge Server, these settings are not displayed.
External IP/port
The IP address and port used by the external interface of the Web Conferencing Edge Server for external user connections.
Internal IP/port
The IP and port used by the internal interface of the Web Conferencing Edge Server for communications with the internal network.
Important: If you change this port setting, make a corresponding change on your internal Web Conferencing Servers by using the Web Conferencing Edge Server tab of Web Conferencing Properties for each Standard Edition server or Enterprise pool.
Click Configure to configure the settings used by your Web Conferencing Edge Server.
A/V Edge Server
Displays the settings of the external and internal interfaces of the A/V Edge Server. To change any of these settings, including the certificate assigned to the A/V authentication port of the A/V Edge Server, click Configure.
Note: If an A/V Edge Server role is not configured on this Edge Server, these settings are not displayed.
External IP/port (TCP)
The IP address and port used for TCP traffic on the external interface of the A/V Edge Server for external user participation in A/V sessions.
External port range
The range of ports available for the external interface and allocated to users for use in A/V sessions.
Internal IP/port (TCP)
The IP address and port used for TCP traffic on the internal interface of the A/V Edge Server for communications with the internal network.
Important: If you change this port setting, make a corresponding change for your internal A/V Conferencing Servers by using the General tab of A/V Conferencing Properties for each Standard Edition server or Enterprise pool node.
A/V authentication port
The port used for authentication of users participating in external A/V sessions.
Important: If you change this port setting, make a corresponding change in the internal network by using the Edge Servers tab of Global Properties of the forest node.

The external and internal interfaces of all Edge Servers must be configured to support traffic between external users and internal users. The settings for each interface are configured when you initially deploy the Edge Server. You can change any of the interface settings on this tab or you can run the Configuration Wizard to change any of the interface settings.
Internal Interface
The internal interface is the interface to which internal servers running Office Communications Server connect to this Edge Server. Configuration of the shared settings for this internal interface requires the following:
-
Specification of the IP address to be used for the internal interface.
-
Selection of the certificate to be used for connections to the internal interface.
Access Edge Server
Configuration of interface settings for the Access Edge Server requires the following:
-
Specification of the IP address and fully qualified domain name (FQDN) to be used for the external interface.
-
Specification of the ports to be used for external traffic over the Access Edge Server, including the following:
-
Federation port. This port is required to enable users in federated domains to connect to the Access Edge Server and send federated traffic to your organization.
-
Remote access port. This port is used for authentication of remote users and communications with the internal network.
-
-
Specification of the internal port (that is, SIP port) to be used by internal servers running Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to connect to the Access Edge Server.
-
Selection of the certificate to be used for connections to the external interface of the Access Edge Server.
Web Conferencing Edge Server
Configuration of interface settings for the Web Conferencing Edge Server requires the following:
-
Specification of the IP address and FQDN to be used for the external interface of the Web Conferencing Edge Server.
-
Specification of the external port (that is, data port) to be used by external users, including remote users, to connect to Web Conferencing Edge Server and access meeting content for on-premise conferences.
-
Specification of the internal port (that is, data port) to be used by internal servers running Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to connect to the Web Conferencing Edge Server and establish the Persistent Shared Object Model (PSOM) connection used for data collaboration, such as white boarding and application sharing during on-premise conference meetings.
-
Selection of the certificate to be used for connections to the external interface of the Web Conferencing Edge Server.
A/V Edge Server
Configuration of interface settings for the A/V Edge Server requires the following:
-
Specification of the IP address and FQDN to be used for the external interface of the A/V Edge Server.
-
Specification of the external port (that is, TCP port) to be used for TCP traffic over the external interface of the A/V Edge Server.
-
Specification of the range of media ports available for the external interface allocated to users for use in A/V sessions.
-
Specification of the internal ports to be used for A/V conferencing , including the following:
-
TCP port. This port is required to enable sharing of A/V conferencing media between internal and external users.
-
A/V authentication port. This port is used for user authentication for A/V sessions.
-
-
Selection of the certificate to be used for authentication of A/V conferencing users.
