Data Type Percentage/Number
Entry Type Calculated
Description The Unit Availability field contains the percentage or number of maximum units that a work resource is available to accomplish on any tasks during any selected time period, as distributed over time. This field also shows a timephased representation for any changes in unit availability for different time periods, as established in the Resource Availabilitytable of the Resource Information dialog box.
How Calculated The units you have set in the Resource Availability table of the Resource Information dialog box are reflected in the Unit Availability field, as distributed over the selected time period.
Best Uses Add the Unit Availability field to the timephased portion of the Resource Usage view when you want to display the maximum capacity at which a resource is available to work on tasks during the selected time period. Also use this field to show changes in unit availability for different time periods, as established in the Resource Availability table of the Resource Information dialog box.
Example You have planned for four painters to work on your project in March and April, six painters in May through August, and two painters in September and October. In the Resource Availability table of the Resource Information dialog box, you have reflected these dates with units of 400 percent, 600 percent, and 200 percent. Add the Unit Availability field to the Resource Usage view so you can see the changes in painter availability throughout the months. You can also see their availability by day or by week by changing the timescale.
Remarks In conjunction with the Unit Availability field in the timephased portion of the view, add the Max Units (maximum units) field to the sheet portion of the Resource Usage view to see the unit availability for a resource for the current period.
