What do you want to do?
Join a Lync Meeting or audio or video conference call
You can join the audio or video, and IM (if it's turned on in the meeting) portion of a Lync Meeting from Lync for Android. When you join from a mobile device, you can only hear the meeting audio and see the video of other participants (if it's being shown). You won't be able to see any meeting content being shared.
-
To join a Lync Meeting, tap the Meetings icon, fourth icon from the left.
-
Select the meeting that you want to join, and then tap Join.
-
Depending on how you set your VoIP call options, one of the following happens:
-
You'll be connected to audio or video using VoIP either by using Wi-Fi (if you're connected to a Wi-Fi network) or your cellular data plan.
-
Or, Lync will call you on your mobile phone and you'll need to accept the Lync call in order to join the meeting. This happens only when your audio or video call options are set to ON and your mobile phone isn't connect to a Wi-Fi network.
-
For more information on VoIP call options, go to Manage Wi-Fi for VoIP options.
Important: On many Android devices it's possible to join a Lync Meeting directly from the calendar app that comes with the device. However, some devices are not able to recognize Lync Meeting URLs. As a result, when you tap the link to a Lync Meeting in the calendar on those devices, your web browser will launch and then you'll get a message saying Lync is probably not installed on the device. In that case, you'll need to launch Lync, then go to the Lync meetings view and join the meeting from there (as described in steps 1-3 above).
Join a Lync Meeting or conference call by phone
You can also dial in to the meeting from any phone by dialing the Join by Phone numbers listed in the meeting request. The dial-in phone number is listed towards the bottom of the request.
Note: When you join a Lync Meeting by dialing in, your telephone number is displayed in the meeting roster.
Wait in the meeting lobby
The meeting lobby is an online waiting area. The meeting leader can control access to the meeting, or admit someone who doesn't have the correct meeting credentials.
If the meeting leader has enabled the meeting lobby, you'll need to wait until the meeting leader admits you to the meeting. If you're waiting in the lobby, don't move to another screen because your request to join the meeting will be cancelled if you do.
Rejoin a meeting
If you have to temporarily leave a Lync meeting or get disconnected for any reason, you can rejoin it by clicking the Rejoin button in the notification.
Note: If you're not in the Lync app when you get disconnected, you may see a notification that you were disconnected but you'll need to return to the Lync app to click Rejoin.
Continue a conversation
To pick up a conversation where you left off, tap the Conversations icon at bottom of the Lync screen, scroll down the list until you find the conversation you want to resume, and tap the listing for that conversation. Lync will send a new invite to everyone who was in the original conversation.
