Import files into notes with the OneNote print driver

Import files into notes with the OneNote print driver

Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 supports a variety of ways to import information into your notes, such as inserting documents and files, and pasting screen clippings from other programs.

Another way to import information is to use the print driver that is automatically installed with Office OneNote 2007. The print driver lets you send information from any computer file to a page in your OneNote notebook as if you were "printing" it to that page instead of sending it to an actual printer..

What do you want to do?

Import or "print" a document or file into OneNote

  1. Open the document or file that you want to import into OneNote in the program in which it was created (for example, Microsoft Office Word for document files, Microsoft Office Excel for Excel workbooks).

  2. On the File menu, click Print.

Note: Some third-party programs do not follow Windows interface guidelines. As a result, printing commands may have different names and may be in different locations.

  3. In the Print dialog box, select Send to OneNote 2007 as the printer, and then click Print.

Important: Printing a file to OneNote by using the OneNote print driver inserts a copy of the file's contents. OneNote does not maintain a link to the source file. If the source file is later updated, those changes do not appear in your notes.
