Import data from FileMaker Pro

You can import data from a FileMaker Pro database into Excel for Mac.

Newer versions Office 2011



Important: The process below explains how to use the From FileMaker button. This button will soon be discontinued in Excel 2016 for Mac. Therefore we highly recommend installing an ODBC driver first, and then importing the data.

1. Before you import, make sure that FileMaker Pro is installed on your computer. And, make sure the version of FileMaker Pro is compatible with the database you want to import.

2. On the Data tab, click From FileMaker.

3. Locate the database file that you want to import, and then click Open.

4. In the FileMaker Pro Import Wizard, on the Layouts pop-up menu, click the layout that contains the fields that you want to import. If you are importing an .fp7 database, you can also use the Tables pop-up menu to select a table that contains the fields that you want to import.

5. To import one field, click it, and then click Add. Or import all of the fields by clicking Add All.

6. To import only the data that meets specific criteria, click Next, and then enter the criteria. If you want to add all of the data in the selected fields, click Finish.

1. Before you import, make sure that FileMaker Pro is installed on your computer. And, make sure the version of FileMaker Pro is compatible with the database you want to import.

2. On the Data tab, under External Data Sources, click FileMaker.

   

3. Locate the .fp5 or .fp7 database file that you want to import, and then click Choose.

4. In the FileMaker Pro Import Wizard, on the Layouts pop-up menu, click the layout that contains the fields that you want to import.

   If you are importing an .fp7 database, you can also use the Tables pop-up menu to select a table that contains the fields that you want to import.

5. Do any of the following:

To import	Do this
One field	Click the field, and then click Add.
All fields	Click Add All.

Only the data that meets specific criteria	Click Next, and then enter the criteria that you want to use.
All of the data in the selected fields	Click Finish.
