Your publication contains a linked picture and the external linked file is missing or has been moved so that the link is broken. If this condition is not fixed when you try to print the publication, a message box will appear and you will need to do one of the following:

Find the linked picture and update the link.

Replace the picture with a different picture.

Print the version of the picture that was displayed in the publication before the link broke.

Print the publication without the picture.
To find and select the item, click the error message in the Design Checker task pane, click the arrow, and then click Go to this Item. (To open the Design Checker in Publisher 2010 and later, click File > Run Design Checker.
Update the link
-
Click File > Run Design Checker.

In Design Checker, click the arrow next to Picture is missing, and then click Fix: Find the Linked Picture to open the Link to Picture dialog box,

In the Link to Picture dialog box, find and select the picture that you want.

Click Link to File.
Replace the picture with a different picture
If the linked picture is lost, you can link to a different picture.

On the View tab, select the Graphics Manager check box.

Under Display options, in the Show list, select Missing/modified pictures.

In the Graphics Manager task pane, under Select a picture, click the arrow next to the picture whose link you want to update (its status will appear as Original is missing), and then click Replace this Picture.

In the Insert Picture dialog box, select the picture that you want.
If you don't see the picture that you want, switch to the drive or folder that it's in.

Do one of the following:

To insert the picture as a linked file, click the arrow next to Insert, and then click Link to File.

To insert the picture as an embedded picture, click Insert.

Update the link

On the Tools menu, click Design Checker.

In Design Checker, click the arrow next to Picture is missing, and then click Fix: Find the Linked Picture to open the Link to Picture dialog box,

In the Link to Picture dialog box, find and select the picture that you want.

Click Link to File.
