In the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Administrative Tools snap-in, each Enterprise pool and Standard Edition server is represented by a node that uses its display name in the console tree. The nodes shown under the individual pool node in Enterprise pools are dependent on the View Options setting, which is configured at the top node of Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

In the console tree, you can right-click the pool node to do the following:
-
Start the Remove Pool wizard to remove the pool from your Office Communications Server environment.
Note: If you want to remove a pool, it is strongly recommended that you move all users from that pool and then deactivate and remove all servers from the pool before you remove the pool.

Open the Logging Tool, which you can use to invoke monitoring and tracing functionality by starting a new debug session or accessing an existing debug session.

Open the Filtering Tools, which includes the options to configure intelligent instant messaging (IM) filters and client version filters.

Open the Device Updater, which you can use to manage device updates using the Device Update Service administrative snap-in.

Use Properties to configure settings for the pool or each server role, including the following:
-
Pool Properties include media settings including encryption and media listening port settings.

Front End Properties include server address, routing, compression, authentication, monitoring, Enterprise Voice, video, dial-in conferencing, authentication, federation, host authorization, and archiving settings.

Web Conferencing Properties include meeting compliance and Web Conferencing Edge Server settings.
-
Web Component Properties include settings for scheduled meetings, meeting invitations, Address Book query, and group expansion settings.
-
Applications to open the Response Group Service Properties administrative snap-in.
Note: The above properties apply to all servers in a pool that have the server role installed.

In the results pane, you can do the following:

Click the Status tab to view the status of specific settings configured for the pool, including the general settings, Front End Server settings, media settings, meeting settings, archiving settings, monitoring settings, Address Book Server settings, Enterprise Voice settings, public switched telephone network (PSTN) conferencing settings, and Communicator Web Access override settings.

Click the Database tab (only on Enterprise pool) to view the general settings for the back-end database for the pool and generate database reports, including user summary reports, per-user reports, and conference summary reports.

Click the Resources tab to access documentation and other resources for Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

In Available Tasks in the action pane, you can click Remove Pool to start the Remove Enterprise Pool Wizard.

If the View Options setting is Organize servers by role, the console tree contains the following nodes in each Enterprise pool:

Users. This node contains all users that have been enabled for Office Communications Server and have been successfully assigned to a front-end server in the pool.

Assigned Conference Directories. This node contains all conference directories that are assigned to the pool.

Front Ends. This node contains all computers that have Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Front End Server role installed and are assigned to the pool.

Web Conferencing. This node contains all computers that have Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Web Conferencing Server role installed and are assigned to the pool.

A/V Conferencing. This node contains all computers that have Office Communications Server 2007 R2 A/V Conferencing Server role installed and are assigned to the pool.

Web Components. This node contains all computers that have Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Web Components Server role installed and are assigned to the pool.

Application Sharing. This node contains all computers that have Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Application Sharing Conferencing Server role installed and are assigned to the pool.

Applications. This node contains all computers that have the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Response Group Service application installed and are assigned to the pool.

If the View Options setting is Organize servers as a list, the console tree contains the following nodes in each Enterprise pool:

Users. All users that have been enabled for Office Communications Server and have been successfully assigned to a Front End Server in the pool.

Server name. Computers that have Office Communications Server 2007 R2 installed and are assigned to the pool. In an Enterprise pool, consolidated configuration, all server roles are installed on this computer, including the Front End Server, Web Conferencing Server, A/V Conferencing Server, Web Components Server, and Application Sharing Conferencing Server.

Each Standard Edition server node contains the following nodes:

Users. This node contains all users that have been enabled for Office Communications Server and have been successfully assigned to this Standard Edition server.

Server name. This node exists for each computer that has Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Edition installed. Each Standard Edition server provides all of the Office Communications Server server roles, including the Front End Server, Web Conferencing Server, A/V Conferencing Server, Web Components Server, and Application Sharing Conferencing Server.
In addition to configuring pool-level settings, you can configure other settings that affect the Standard Edition servers:

To configure settings that apply to all Standard Edition servers, you can configure global properties at the forest level.

To configure settings that apply to a specific server or role, you can configure server-level settings for each individual server and server role.
