Edit cycle properties in Planning Business Modeler

Edit cycle properties in Planning Business Modeler

You edit a cycle by using the Edit a Cycle wizard. The current settings and properties of the cycle are shown automatically. For more information about properties, see the topic About details for a cycle definition.

Edit an existing cycle

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, click Process Management.

  2. Select the name of the cycle that you want to edit.

  3. In the Process Scheduling Tasks pane, click Edit Cycle Properties. The Edit a Cycle wizard opens on the Name the Cycle page.

  4. In the Name text box, edit the name for the cycle. The name must be from one to 256 characters and is meant to be a "user-friendly" descriptor for an object.

Note:  When editing a cycle, you cannot modify the cycle label.

  5. (Optional) In the Description text box, enter or change the description of this cycle. The description can be up to 512 characters long.

  6. Click the ellipsis that is near the Owner text box to select a different owner for this cycle. The Select Owner dialog box is displayed. Because only individuals can be cycle owners (and not multiple users as might be the case with roles), only users are displayed here.

  7. Scroll through the list and select one individual to be the owner of this cycle. The owner is granted permission to change the status of the cycle at any time, regardless of its current state.

  8. Click the appropriate arrow to move the selected user name to the selected user's area. Note that you cannot select more than one owner for any cycle.

  9. Click OK to complete the owner selection and return to the Edit a Cycle wizard.

  10. Click Next to move to the Select a Model page. This page is disabled, because you are not permitted to select a different model when you edit cycle properties.

  11. Click Next to move to the Define Data-Entry Scope page.

  12. Next to the Start text box, click Edit. In the Add or Remove Members to include them in the selection for dialog box, select the check box of the date that starts the time period for which you want the user to enter data.

Note:  Together, data period start and end dates provide the range of dates for which users will enter data in this assignment.

  13. Click OK to close the Add or Remove Members to include them in the selection for dialog box and return to the Define Data-Entry Scope page.

  14. Next to the End text box, click Edit. In the Add or Remove Members to include them in the selection for dialog box, select the check box of the date that ends the time period for which you want the user to enter data.

  15. Click OK to close the Add or Remove Members to include them in the selection for dialog box and return to the Define Data-Entry Scope page.

  16. Next to the Scenario text box, click Edit. In the Add or Remove Members to include them in the selection for dialog box, select the check box of the scenario that you want to associate with the cycle.

Note:  The data period start and end dates that you selected should correlate with the selected scenario. For example, do not select dates in the past for a forecast scenario or dates in the future for an actuals scenario.

  17. Click OK to close the Add or Remove Members to include them in the selection for dialog box and return to the Define Data-Entry Scope page.

  18. If you want this cycle to recur, select the Define a recurrence pattern for this cycle check box. Click Next to move to the Recurrence Pattern page.

  19. In the Calendar drop-down list, select the calendar type that you want to use for this cycle.

  20. In the Recurrence interval drop-down list, select the unit of time that should elapse between start times for this cycle.

  21. Click an underlined number in the Recurrence description box to display the Interval Number dialog box. Use the spin control or type the number you want. Click OK. Repeat as necessary until the recurrence description fits the pattern that you require.

  22. Click Next to open the Recurrence Duration page.

  23. Select No end date if you want this cycle to repeat indefinitely. To set a specific number of times that this cycle should be repeated, select Number of occurrences. Then use the spin control or enter the number of repetitions for this cycle.

  24. Click Next to open the Notification page.

  25. Select Enable notifications to send an e-mail message to the cycle owner every time that the cycle status changes. By default, notifications are enabled.

  26. Click Next to move to the Review and Create page.

  27. Review the cycle selections that you have made. To make changes, click Back; to create the cycle as currently defined, click Finish.
