COT function

This article describes the formula syntax and usage of the COT  function in Microsoft Excel.

Description

Return the cotangent of an angle specified in radians.

Syntax

COT(number)

The COT function syntax has the following arguments.

  • Number    Required. The angle in radians for which you want the cotangent.

Remarks

  • The absolute value of Number must be less than 2^27.

  • If Number is outside its constraints, COT returns the #NUM! error value.

  • If Number is a non-numeric value, COT returns the #VALUE! error value.

  • COT(0) returns the #DIV/0! error value.

Example

Copy the example data in the following table, and paste it in cell A1 of a new Excel worksheet. For formulas to show results, select them, press F2, and then press Enter. If you need to, you can adjust the column widths to see all the data.
