You can change the cells in a table you've inserted in a Publisher publication.
To change other table properties, see Change rows or columns in a table.
Lock or unlock the size of cells

Select the cells you want to change.

Click the Table Tools Layout tab, and do one of the following:

To lock the cell size, clear the Grow to Fit Text check box.

To unlock the cell size, select the Grow to Fit Text check box.

Note: Diagonally divided cells will not grow to fit text.
Change the margins in a cell

Select the cells you want to change.

Right-click the table, and then click Format Table.

In the Format Table dialog box, click the Cell Properties tab.

Under Text Box Margins, enter the margins you want.
Merge cells
-
Select two or more adjacent cells that you want to combine.

Click Table Tools Layout > Merge Cells.
If the cells contain text, the content of each cell appears in the merged cell.
Note: To split merged cells, select the cell, and then click Table Tools Layout > Split Cells.
Diagonally divide table cells

Select the cells you want to divide.

Click Table Tools Layout > Diagonals.

Click either Divide down or Divide up.
Insert a tab in a cell

Click inside the table cell where you want to insert the tab.

Press CTRL+TAB.
