Set advanced phone integration options

You can integrate your non-UC (unified communications) phone with Lync if the option has been turned on for your company. This means that you can control some functions of your phone with Lync. For example, you can start a one-click call from Lync that will ring your desktop private phone.

We recommend using a phone that is UC-certified. You cannot make a video call between two different phone systems. For more information, see Phones and Devices for Microsoft Skype for Business (Lync).

  • To set up the system automatically, click Use an automatic configuration to let Lync configure your phone integration.

  • To manually set up phone integration, do the following:

    1. Click Advanced.

    2. Click Specify a manual configuration .

    3. For Remote call control URI (sip), type the uniform resource identifier (URI) of the computer telephone integration server that manages telephone services for you. If you do not know the remote call control URI, contact your support team.

The URI is in the form of a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) address. This remote call control URI will look similar to: sip:+13165551465@SEATTLE-LCSCTI-02.corp.contoso.com.

    4. For Phone URI (tel), type the URI of the phone to be managed. If you do not know the phone URI, contact your support team.

There are several standard formats for telephone URIs. For more information, see "RFC: 3966 - The tel URI for Telephone Numbers," which is available at https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc3966.txt . The telephone URI will look something like this: tel:+14255550146;ext=51459
