You can use the Contacts list to call an internal co-worker or federated contact (outside partners whose company is federated or connected with yours), or you can call an outside number by typing the number in the search field.
When you first sign in to Lync on your Windows Phone, you'll be guided to update your mobile number, which will let you make and receive calls from Lync. Then when you make a work call, the call is routed to Lync Server 2010, which calls you back at your mobile phone number. After you answer the call, Lync Server places the call to the call recipient.
What do you want to do?
Turn on My Mobile Number
The My Mobile Number that is specified is used by Microsoft Lync Server 2010 to set up outgoing work calls. When you make a work call, the call is routed to Lync Server 2010, which calls you back at your mobile phone number. After you answer the call, Lync Server places the call to the call recipient.
When you first sign in to Lync on your iPad, you'll be guided to configure your My Mobile Number. To update your mobile number, do the following:
-
Tap My Info, and then tap Options.
-
On the Options screen, under Voice and Meeting, tap Phone Number, and then enter your mobile phone number.
Make a call
Calls made using Lync are not Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). When you make or receive a Lync call, it will ring on your mobile phone and your carrier's minutes are being used. Also, when you make Lync call, your work phone number is displayed on the caller ID.
-
To call someone in your Contacts list, tap Contacts, and then from the Lync tab, start to type a person's name in the search box.
-
When you find the contact you're looking for, tap the contact's name, and then select the number you want to call.
-
When the call is placed, you'll first need to accept the Lync call on your mobile phone in order to make the outgoing call.
Receive a call
When you receive a Lync call from the iPad the call goes to the mobile phone number you specified in the My Mobile Number field.
