Database Properties for Entity and View shapes (Definition)

Database Properties for Entity and View shapes (Definition)

Use these options to specify physical and conceptual names for the table and whether to synchronize the names as you work on this tab.

You can specify a name space value for the table to distinguish it from similarly named tables in the model.

This category also displays information reported by the host database management system (DBMS) about the database owner and the path of the source database. The Defining type box is available only when a table is empty; it lists all composite data types so that you can create a typed table.

Physical name

Type the name of the table as it appears in the database.

Conceptual name

Type the name of the table as it appears in conceptual modeling.

Name space

Type a value that can be used to additionally distinguish between otherwise identically named model elements, such as elements in Oracle databases.

Owner

Shows read-only information about the selected table's owner reported by the host DBMS during the reverse engineering process.

Source database

Shows the database from which the selected table was extracted as reported by the host DBMS during the reverse engineering process. The value is read-only.

Defining type

Lists all composite data types so that you can create a typed table for an object relational database. The Defining type box is available only when a table is empty.

Sync names when typing

Select this check box to synchronize the conceptual and physical names when you change either one.
