Make replies to e-mail messages go to a different e-mail account

Make replies to e-mail messages go to a different e-mail account

This feature is available for most POP3 and IMAP e-mail accounts. It is not available when using a Microsoft Exchange e-mail account.

You can configure Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 so that when an e-mail recipient replies to your message, the reply is sent to an e-mail account that is different from the account that you used to send the message.

For example, if you send a message and then go on vacation to visit a friend, you can specify that replies to your message be sent to your friend's account. Or, if you are at work and do not have the ability to send a message from your personal e-mail account, you can temporarily change your e-mail settings so that replies to messages you send from work are sent to a personal account.

Only replies to messages that you send after making this change are affected.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.

  2. On the E-mail tab, select an e-mail account, and then click Change.

  3. Click More Settings, and then, in the Reply E-mail box, type the e-mail address of the account to which you want replies sent.

    Notes:

    • Some Internet service providers (ISP) do not allow you to send e-mail messages with a reply e-mail address that does not match the e-mail address of the account you are using. If your ISP has this restriction, you cannot use these procedures.

    • Make sure you change the Reply E-mail box when you no longer want replies sent to an alternate account.

    • If you are using a Microsoft Exchange account and want another person to manage your e-mail and calendar items, consider using Delegate Access or granting permissions for someone else to open and access your Exchange account.
