Standard Rate (resource field)
Data Type Currency Rate
Entry Type Entered
Description The Standard Rate field shows the rate of pay for regular, non-overtime work performed by a resource.
Best Uses Add the Standard Rate field to a resource view to enter resources' rates of pay for regular work directly in the sheet. Whenever a resource reports actual work, the costs for the work are calculated by multiplying the actual work by the value in the Standard Rate field.
Example Chris has a standard rate of $10 per hour. To make sure this cost is accurately calculated when Chris is used in your project, enter 10/h in the Standard Rate field. If you don't type a slash and time unit, the hours time unit is used.
Remarks You can enter the standard rate for a resource in the Resource Information dialog box. You can also set a default standard rate in the Project Options dialog box. When a new resource is created, this default standard rate is set until you change it.
You can enter variable standard rates in the Resource Information dialog box. You can have different standard rates for different tasks using the multiple cost rate tables. This is helpful if the resource has different rates for different types of tasks. You can also specify different standard rates for different time periods. This is helpful when a resource is scheduled for a raise effective on a specific date. When you specify multiple variable rates, the rate displayed in the Rate field is for the current time period.
