Change the dimensions of a layout table
When you design a form template, it is a good idea to align text boxes, check boxes, and other elements along the horizontal and vertical lines of an imaginary grid. You can use layout tables to define the boundaries of your grid and help line up elements on the form template. After you insert a layout table on your form template, you can change the size or alignment of the layout table. You can also change the dimensions of the individual parts of a layout table, such as the width and height of any of its columns and rows. You can also change the placement of text inside a table cell.
What do you want to do?
Change the size of a layout table
-
Point to the table border at the lower-right corner of the table.
-
When the pointer becomes a double-headed arrow , drag the border to the location that you want.
Tip: By default, InfoPath inserts layout tables and layout-related controls, such as sections and scrolling regions, at a width that matches that of the printed page. To change this default setting, on the View menu, click View Properties. On the General tab, under Layout settings, select the Use a custom layout width for this form template check box, and then type a different number in the Custom layout width box.
Change the alignment of a layout table
-
Right-click the table that you want to align, and then click Table Properties.
-
In the Tables Properties dialog box, click the Table tab.
-
Under Horizontal alignment, click the alignment option that you want.
Change the width of a column in a layout table
-
Point to the boundary of the column whose width you want to change.
-
When the pointer becomes a double-sided arrow , drag the boundary to the location that you want.
Tip: To specify the exact width of a column, right-click the column, and then click Table Properties. On the Column tab, click the measurement unit that you want to use and then, in the Column width is box, type the measurement that you want.
Change the height of a row in a layout table
-
Point to the boundary of the row whose height you want to change.
-
When the pointer becomes a double-sided arrow , drag the boundary to the location that you want.
Tip: To automatically adjust the row height, right-click the row, and then click Table Properties. On the Row tab, click Automatically set row height. To specify the exact height of a row, in the Row height is at least box, type the measurement that you want.
Change the placement of text or an object inside a layout table cell
You can change the alignment of text or an object inside a cell in a layout table. You can also change the spacing (also referred to as cell padding) between the border of a cell and the text or object inside that cell.
-
Right-click the cell that you want to change, and then click Table Properties.
-
In the Tables Properties dialog box, click the Cell tab.
-
Do one or both of the following:
-
To change the alignment, under Vertical alignment, click the alignment option that you want.
-
To change the spacing between the cell boundary and the text or object that the cell contains, under Cell padding, specify the measurement unit that you want to use in the list boxes for Top, Bottom, Left, and Right, and then type the measurement that you want in the corresponding boxes.
