Share your calendar in Outlook.com

Use Outlook.com to share your calendar. When you share your calendar with people, they're able to add it directly to their calendar view in Outlook. Depending on the permission you give them, they can view your calendar or edit it.

Note: Sign in to Outlook.com using any Microsoft account, including email accounts ending in @outlook.com, @live.com, @hotmail.com or @msn.com. If you have an Office 365 work or student account, see Share your calendar in Outlook on the web for business.

Share my calendar

  1. At the top of the page, select the app launcher Select the app launcher , and select Calendar.

  2. At the top of the screen, select Share, and choose the calendar you want to share.

    By default, your primary calendar is called "Calendar". If you created other calendars, you can select one of them to share instead. You cannot share calendars owned by other people.

  3. Enter the name or email address of the person with whom you want to share your calendar in the Send a sharing invitation in email box.

  4. Choose how you want this person to use your calendar:

    • Can view when I'm busy lets the person see when you are busy but does not include details such as the event location.

    • Can view titles and locations lets the person see when you are busy as well as the title and location of events.

    • Can view lets the person see all the details of your events.

    • Can edit lets the person edit your calendar.

    • Can edit and manage sharing lets the person edit your calendar and share it with others.

  5. Select Share. If you decide not to share your calendar right now, select Remove The Remove icon. .

    Notes: 

    • When sharing your calendar with non-Outlook.com users, such as Gmail users, they will receive an email with an ICS link to your calendar. They will need this link to add your calendar to their mailbox.

    • ICS calendars are read-only, so even if you grant edit access to other users, they won't be able to edit your calendar.

    • How often your ICS calendar syncs depends on the email provider of the person with whom you've shared it.

Change calendar sharing permissions

You can change the permissions you've set for a calendar, or stop sharing the calendar completely, by right-clicking the calendar name under Your calendars.

  1. At the top of the page, select the app launcher Select the app launcher , and select Calendar.

  2. Under Your calendars, right-click the calendar for which you want to update sharing settings, and select Sharing permissions.

  3. Find the person whose permissions you want to change and either choose a new level of permissions or select Remove The Remove icon. to stop sharing your calendar with that person.

Add another person's calendar to my calendar view

If you receive an invitation to share someone else's calendar, select Accept at the top of the message to add their calendar to your calendar view.

After you add another calendar, you can rename it, change its color, or remove it from your view.

Stop sharing my calendar with someone

If you would like to stop sharing your calendar with someone, use Outlook.com to remove his or her permissions.

  1. At the top of the page, select the app launcher Select the app launcher , and select Calendar.

  2. At the top of the page, select Share, and choose the calendar you want to stop sharing.

  3. Choose the person with whom you want to stop sharing your calendar and select Remove The Remove icon. .

    The person is now removed from the list of people with access to your calendar. His or her copy of your calendar will no longer sync to your calendar or receive updates.
